Visions of Peg Bundy. Animal Prints: Do You Dare to Wear?

I attended the Ann Taylor Concept Store launch party in San Diego and had always been a fan of AT Fashions. Since the event, I've followed a little more closely! Lately I've been seeing a lot of animal prints used in ways that I JUST MIGHT be able to get away with.  I will admit that when I think of animal prints I envision Peg Bundy in the TV sitcom Married with Children.  I would never have dreamed of rocking her look.

I am inspired by Ann Taylor and recently purchased my first EVER animal print item of clothing! I still can't believe that I did it. But I did! I bought this Michael Kors Pencil Skirt.  Since the colors are a mix of black, white, and gray (colors I would wear anyway) - I thought that I would just GO FOR IT!

If you haven't seen Ann Taylor's Must Have Looks for Fall 2012, they have tons of photos on their facebook page! Here is one of many that caught my eye:

Ann Taylor
It's a fashion stretch for me in trying animal prints!  Leaving my comfort zone is WILD! Just like my new Michael Kors skirt!  I opted for the MK version because though I love both Ann Taylor and Michael Kors, the Kors version was at a much better price point for this fashion risk!

Details: The Ann Taylor black and white leopard print pencil skirt $88. My Michael Kors Pencil Skirt $130 -  on sale for $33! SCORE!  Not a very expensive fashion risk at all!

What are your thoughts on animal prints?  Personally, I think that you either LOVE animal prints or that you HATE them.  I am still not sure - but at least I will TRY them!  Thank you Ann Taylor for almost daring me to try!

Speaking of FASHION... Fashion Week San Diego is coming up soon! I am very excited to attend and have been granted the privilege of a press pass to the event! Better brush up on fashion!  Stay tuned for more on that!

YouTube & Me | Post 1 of 2012

2011 was the year of neglecting my blog. It happens. I still intend to dabble in new things. The first item of this year new year that I'd like to try may seem like a simple assignment: YouTube. Easy enough right? My area to overcome is this: to get over my aversion of seeing and hearing myself in a video. I cringe at the thought.

I  wanted to share my funny little tidbit about my experience with YouTube. I have a channel on YouTube: LifebyCynthia I do not have any videos uploaded to date. Even still,  I  have a few friends that have kindly subscribed to my channel and I do get a few channel views. EVEN THOUGH no videos currently reside there! They will be in for a surprise when I upload that very first one!

I'm taking baby steps!  I'm sure that there will be plenty of stuttering and random twitches.  If you have tips for me about vlogging: PLEASE share! Thank you. See you all real soon as I step out of my comfort zone for 2012!

My Blog Life: One Year Later

I guess it's an anniversary of sorts.  I've officially had my Blogger account for 1 year now.  I started blogging here on December 2010.  My son had just turned 6 months old and I thought it was time for me to revisit an old hobby of mine: Blogging.  I first started blogging in 2004 (well BEFORE marriage & motherhood).  My first blog was on Xanga.  I fell in love with blogging INSTANTLY.

Some of you may already know my little secret:  that I do TRY to maintain more that one blog.  Reason:  I never did find my "niche" with blogging.  I may seem scatter-brained in blog life, but as I see it:  I am organized in my own chaotic way.  I don't find a need for a formula or to follow any guidelines. I blog for the enjoyment of blogging.  Pure & simple.  I am hoping that 2012 will present more time for me to invest in blogging.  We shall see!
I mention my BLOGGER Blogs above because to add to the mix I also have other ventures out there.

This is my life. Thanks for visiting it!

Look What I can Do:

Nothing.  I have neglected this blog to no end.  I had such high hopes of exploring all things new. Learning to skydive, kayak, do back-flips, speak french, dabble in video editing, and eat fire. Yeah. No time for that!  Vlogging? Joke. All of my endeavors are set aside for now.  I guess I could quit sleeping.  That will give a little more time to play.

Triberr, I Tried

Ok, here is my post for all things new. My attempts. I wanted to share my Triberr update for anyone who may be interested. I was only active for a couple of days before realizing that this was not for me. I was lucky and a part of a great Tribe but had to bow out. I just couldn't keep up with it. Though not required, I wanted to read my Tribe's posts before sharing them out with those on my Twitter list. I just felt more comfortable knowing exactly what it was that I was sharing. I was able to read and comment on the posts that I was "attached" to. To me, it was more genuine that way. The content of those in my Tribe was good but with the sheer volume, I realized that I couldn't keep the pace. I wanted to make room for someone else to join the Tribe. Someone better suited to grow the Tribe. It was also cluttering up my Tweets to the point where it would take a while for me to sort through them to find which ones were auto sent via Triberr and what I posted.

I haven't written off Triberr completely because it does have merit. Perhaps in the future I will start a Tribe on a smaller scale. One consisting of Bloggers that I already read and that read mine as well.

BlogHer '11: My 15 Minutes of Fame

Today I read a tweet entitled: BlogHer Conference Update -- August 12, 2011 | BlogHer.  Cool.  Since I attended the conference, I wanted to read the write up.  I open up the attachment and lo and behold!  I see my face!  Admittedly, it is not the most flattering of photos since I am clearly in mid-speech!  I was telling my new blog buddies what I blog about.  I am thrilled all the same.  What a great souvenir of my BlogHer moment!

I am now able to cross "Have my photo on front page of BlogHer website" off of the bucket list! It's already quickly being bumped lower and lower on the page as more posts are put up. But at least it was up there at ONE point. I'm giddy!

Also pictured is Nicole Aro of The Sunlight Foundation which is a non-profit. I met a few ladies that are involved with non-profit organizations. She was kind enough to ask if I wanted company at breakfast since I was eating alone. It touched me even more that she came up to me because there were PLENTY of other empty tables available.
